Biography

"Lorraine has an enchanting and versatile solo repertoire on the keyboard."

      - Gary 17, TO-Nite Magazine

"In Lorraine's piano bar you'll be part of an entertaining event you will not ever forget. You could put Lorraine on a deserted island with a piano and a microphone and she will attract a crowd. She is an incredible talent."

      - John Howe, Carnival Liberty Guest

Hello, and welcome to my website. I am a Toronto-based pianist/vocalist/songwriter. When people ask me "What type of music do you play?", my reply is, "Whatever the situation requires." My musical styles cover the pop, rock, blues, boogie woogie, country, classic jazz, ragtime (no vocals), and classical (no vocals) genres along with my own original compositions. In 1986 I graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto, Canada with my A.R.C.T. in classical piano performance and began learning to teach myself to improvise and play by ear at blues jams in Toronto in the late 1980's.

I have at present found a new love in the music world - performing as a piano bar entertainer, and began my cruise ship career in 2005. I have performed on Carnival Cruise Lines (2005-2012) and Holland America Cruise Lines (2006) as a piano bar entertainer and on Disney Cruise Lines (2010) as a piano lounge performer.

When I am in Toronto I am available to perform at your wedding, corporate event, private party, piano bar or restaurant   as a background music performer (with or without vocals) or a piano bar entertainer (with vocals and audience participation). Please contact me at info@lorraineingle.com for more information.

In 2007 I released a CD of my own original compositions titled "Peace of Mind", an eclectic mixture of styles and various ensemble combinations. Please see the music page for digital download information.

Since the early 1990's, I have performed at public and private events as a solo artist, ensemble artist, songwriter, and accompanist in various genres. Public events highlights of my solo career include performances at the Harbourfront Soul 'n Blues Festival (1992) - it was very exciting to be on the same stage as one of my boogie woogie piano heroes Pinetop Perkins! I had the privilege of performing and conducting a songwriting workshop at the Celebrate Women Conference in Toronto (2002), and of course the life-changing experience of becoming a solo piano bar performer starting in 2005 and cruising the high seas.

In 1990 I formed a partnership with Dawn DuVall and we created an award-winning original boogie woogie blues band      named Blue Willow. For 14 years we performed at festivals, clubs, private functions and released two all-original CD's titled "Greasy Talk" and "Blue Willow". Public performance highlights of our band Blue Willow were: Harbourfront Soul 'n Blues Festival - Toronto, Canada (1995), Mariposa Folk Festival - Toronto, Canada (1994), Oakville Jazz Festival - Oakville, Canada (1994, 1997), Orillia Blues Festival - Orillia, Canada (1997, 2002, 2003), and the Festival of Friends - Hamilton, Canada (2001).

From the 1980's - 2005 I taught private piano lessons in Toronto and would like to say a big hello to all of my students and a big thank you to their parents for your patronage. Over the years I developed a teaching method which incorporated reading music, playing by ear and improvisation. I hope all of you are doing well and that you are enjoying music in your lives. Many best wishes!
